Ishaan Nandkishore Awasthi (Darsheel safary), a story in the lead, is boy 8 year old who doesn't like school and not every test or examination. He finds all his subjects is hard and belittled by teachers and classmates. But Ishaan inner world is rich with wonders that he cannot pass other, magical land full of color and animated animals. He is an artist, whose talent recognized.
Ishaan Nandkishore Awasthi, father (Vipin Sharma), is a successful Executive who expects his children to Excel. His mother, homemaker Maya Awasthi (Tisca Chopra), prevents its inability to bring his son. Ishaan's elder brother, Yohaan (sachet engineer), is an exemplary scholar and an athlete that question often Ishaan.
After receiving a particularly poor academic record, Ishaan's parents send him to boarding school. There, he fell into a State of fear and depression, although befriended Rajan (Tanay Chheda), physical disabilities, and one of the best students in his class. Ishaan, the situation changes when the new art teacher RAM Shankar Nikumbh (Aamir Khan), joined the Faculty at the school. Instructor in a school for children with addictions of tulips, Nikumbh teaching style is very different from its predecessor, rigorous, and he quickly noticed that Ishaan is unhappy and little class. It examines work Ishaan and concludes that their academic failings are evidence of dyslexia. On his day off, Nikumbh visits Ishaan's parents and asks if he can see more of his son. He was stunned by the sophistication of Ishaan's paintings and tells his parents that Ishaan is a bright child who processes information differs from other kids in his class, but the father of Ishaan is suspicious, that explanation is simply an excuse for the poor performance of their child. Nikumbh demands that he read a Japanese text in the box and his Bronco when he could not, giving him a glimpse of Ishaan school experience. Nikumbh describes dyslexia to them and explains that he is not a sign of low intelligence. He tells them that he could provide additional courses that will help Ishaan, underlining the obvious artistic ability in his boy many paintings and other artworks.
Nikumbh then brings about dyslexia in the classroom and offers a list of famous people who are Dyslexic. As the students left the classroom Nikumbh asks Ishaan to stay behind and shows him that he, too, are experiencing the same difficulties with dyslexia. Nikumbh then go to school and get his permission to become a mentor in Ishaan. He attempts to improve read/write using remedial techniques developed for dyslexia; Ishaan Ishaan soon develops interest in mathematics and language and improve your grades.
At the end of the school year, Nikumbh organizes feira to staff and students of art. Lalita Lajmi contest is an artist who portrays herself in the film. Ishaan, with its surprisingly creative, style is declared the winner and Nikumbh that draws a portrait, a finalist in Ishaan. Participant declares that Nikumbh was permanently hired art teacher at the school. When Ishaan's parents, his teacher on the last day of school, they remain speechless conversion sees it. Overcome with emotion, Ishaan's father, Nikumbh thanks. As Ishaan is a car with his parents, he turns and runs into Nikumbh. The film ends with a freeze frame shot of Ishaan Nikumbh play on-air.
